Our cats and dogs should see their veterinarians at least once a year, but even those 12 months can be a long time to go without a quick health check.
Think about it — you spend at least a few minutes every morning at the bathroom mirror, washing your face, brushing your teeth, and getting ready for the day. You’ll certainly notice when something is off — if an eye infection has hit or if your tooth is feeling funny.
Our pets can’t bring things to our attention as easily as we can call up a doctor for ourselves. In fact, dogs may even hide feeling unwell as part of their survival instincts. So what can you do? Take a moment every week to do a quick health check on your pet. Look at their eyes, ears, teeth, and skin, and check for anything that may need to be brought to your veterinarian’s attention:
